Cover your legal costs from only R97.40 pm

The real cost of dying

Apart from the sadness of a death, it comes with additional burdens in the form of legal fees and expenses that your loved ones have to bear. Understanding these legal costs and expenses helps you plan for them and ensure that these costs are covered and the burden on your loved ones is eased.

With our pioneering Legacy Protection Plan™, you can cover all your legal fees, as well as other expenses associated with death, from just R97.40 per month.

Has a loved one died?

If you don't have a Legacy Protection Plan™ from Capital Legacy, your family will have to pay some of the following fees when you die:

Eksekuteursfees
These are the industry standard costs charged by the executor or relevant professional to settle your estate. A maximum of 3.5% + VAT of the value of your estate will be charged. An estate of R3 million will therefore have to pay R127 750 in executor's fees.
Carrier Fees
This is the compensation that the conveyancing solicitor will charge when property is to be transferred. Example: The transfer of a residence worth R1 850 000 and transferred to a beneficiary will cost the estate R30 544.
Fees for a testamentary trust
This is the amount that the trustees ask to create a trust if you have specified such a trust in your will. This is normally a safe place to keep the money you have bequeathed to your children. On average, it costs 1.15% of the net worth to create the trust, and 1.6% per year to administer it continuously. Example: The total cost with assets of R1.5 million over 15 years is R377 250.
Master of the High Court's fees
This is the fee paid to the Master of the High Court for carrying out his role in the administration of your estate.
Correspondence fees
Fees relating to correspondence with the Master of the High Court.
Municipal charge certificates
One of the requirements for the transfer of property is obtaining a clearance certificate, which is available either from the city council or the municipality (serves as proof that all due amounts have been paid). It will only be issued if the rates and taxes have been paid in advance. Sometimes it even has to be paid 6 months in advance.
Advertising costs
Two advertisements must be placed in a local newspaper and in the Government Gazette. The cost can be anything from R1 000 to R1 500, depending on the newspaper chosen.
Inheritance tax
Not only must all outstanding taxes be paid from the estate before it can be settled, but the executor will also have to decide whether to pay capital gains or estate taxes.
Current short-term accounts
Bills such as medical aid contributions, school fees, car insurance, water, lights, etc. must still be paid, even if the bank accounts are frozen.
Other immediate expenses
Expenses in connection with funeral arrangements, such as catering, travel costs and other expenses. These costs eat into the legacy you intend to leave. Don't saddle your family with it. Protect your inheritance. Get coverage now.
